Winter Has Arrived

Winter Has Arrived

Despite an unseasonably dry early season, Aspen has been hit hard this week with a major dumping of snow.  All four ski mountains, Aspen, Snowmass, Highlands and Buttermilk are reporting over thirty inches of new snow in the last seven days, and more is on the way.  It is scheduled to fall from today through next weekend.  The usual view of Aspen Mountain from our office fades in and out between snow gusts.  Several people in our office snuck away to experience the powder and came back with permanent smiles on their faces.  This is the perfect storm before the holiday rush.  To monitor the snow scene on all four mountains: Aspen, Snowmass, Highlands, or Buttermilk, use the following link to access their live webcams: http://www.aspensnowmass.com/onmountain/mountaincams.cfm.

Completion is now scheduled for December 2009.  When completed the building will be 27,000 square feet with mixed use units, including several luxury condos and retail space.

Ajax Tavern Reopens With a Fresh New Look and Feel

Ajax Tavern Reopens With a Fresh New Look and Feel

My husband and I got exciting news yesterday, and to celebrate we went to Ajax Tavern, at the base of Aspen Mountain near the Silver Queen gondola for dinner.  It reopened last weekend after a much needed face lift.  A new chef, Jim Butchart was hired to recreate the food offerings at the restaurant and an upgrade in staffing was icing on the cake.  The new general manager, Ryan was not only friendly, but quick to help his staff while visiting tables to ensure we were fully enjoying our dining experience.  The Tavern is now serving dinner and is a terrific setting for an apres ski drink or an elegant night out with friends or a loved one.
