January 22-25: ESPN's Winter X Games 13 at Buttermilk. For an unprecented eighth year in a row, more than 250 ski, snowboard and snowmobile athletes from around the world decend on Buttermilk to compete on live television.

Aspen - Roaring Fork Transit Auhtority (RFTA)

RFTA, pronounced "rafta" provides free and frequent service within Aspen and Snowmass as well as to Aspen/Pitkin County Airport, the Aspen Airport Business Center (AABC) and all four ski areas.

Free skier service leaves Rubey Park Transit Center every 10 to 15 minutes.

Regular bus service begins at 6:15am and ends at 2:15am.

Service to Snowmass Village,  Basalt, Carbondale and Glenwood Springs will cost you a few bucks.

Parking Information - Snowmass

Parking is available on a first come first serve basis in Base Village Lots C & E (at the Divide).  Permits are required and cost $13 per day.  Parking is also available at Two Creeks and costs $5 weekdays and $10 on weekends.  Free parking is available at The Town Park Station (The Rodeo Lot)  off Brush Creek Road.  Take the free shuttle to the ski area from there.

Cars with 4 or more people can park for free in the Two Creeks if space is available.

New this year is free parking in the Snowmass Village numbered lots after 1pm.

Parking Information - Aspen

The Aspen Parking Garage at the Rio Grande Parking Plaza is located behind the Pitkin County Courthouse and is open 24 hours  a day and is free for 20 minutes or less;  If you park downtown, the pay and display meter system is in effect from 10am to 6pm, everyday except Sunday and holidays.  The pay stations work like meters except that one station covers the whole block.  A new system has been introduced that allows users to pay for parking via their cell-phones.
