![]() Massive Rock Slide Closes Interstate 70 - 3 Hour DetourMarch 9, 2010
The trip to and from Denver just got three hours longer. A day ago, massive boulders slammed into and through the elevated roadway. The west-bound lanes suffered the worst damage and may take eight to ten weeks to repair. The east-bound lanes are likely to open within a few days and will probably be restricted to one lane in each direction. In the meantime, the quickest way to Denver is to take I-70 west at Glenwood Springs; take CO 13 at Rifle and go north to Meeker; take US 40 east at Craig to Steamboat Springs; take CO 131 to Wolcott and I-70 east to Denver.
