After an exceptionally long transition from winter, summer has finally arrived in Aspen. There is a buzz of energy among locals that forces them out of their offices and onto the hiking and biking trails for lunch breaks and onto their back decks for dinner parties and cocktailing. There are countless festivals throughout the Roaring Fork Valley and a abundance of free concerts and events for locals and tourists alike. For more information on the latest news and events, visit the Aspen Chamber of Commerce at www.aspenchamber.org.

After a near 2 week delay due to heavy amounts of snow from a record year, Independence Pass is scheduled to open Thursday.  Taking the pass from Denver rather than the traditional I-70 route provides a shorter and more scenic route for those travelling in and out of Aspen.   For more information on Independence Pass and the Aspen/Snowmass area visit www.independencepass.org or www.aspenchamber.org.

In a recent study titled the 2008 Colorado Airports Impact Study, the Aspen/Pitkin County Airport brought in $1.1 billion into the local economy, ranking #3 out of 14 airports that offer commerical flights in Colorado.  Denver International, Colorado's flagship airport brought in $22.3 billion and #2 Colorado Springs generated $3.5 billion.  The study also states that those who fly directly into Aspen spend more money per person than those who fly into other airports around the state.
