Farewell to Bidwell?April 15, 2008
Aspen City Council members met last night to discuss plans for a proposed redevelopment of the 40 year old Bidwell building situated on what is considered Aspen's most prominent corner. The building currently houses Kemo Sabe and is across the street from Paradise Bakery. Council member's have not voted on the proposal yet, but many have voiced their opinions on the project. Some think that extending the building to the lot line and onto the Cooper Street Mall will interrupt view planes of those enjoying a treat in front of the bakery across the street. Steve Skadron said his gut is telling him to vote no, but he recognized the developers have the right to develop their property and the proposed project is within all aspects of the current land use codes. The next council meeting to discuss the Bidwell building development will be May 12, 2008. Add CommentReply |
