Old Snowmass

Welcome to Old Snowmass

‘Old’ Snowmass existed before the ski area at Snowmass Village was created in the 1960s. The beauty, spectacular views, and true outdoor adventure lifestyle it offers cannot be found anywhere else in the Upper Roaring Fork Valley.

Ranches, mountaintop vistas, and river solitude characterize the lifestyle of those who live in Old Snowmass. Nestled in a valley running from Snowmass Mountain to Capitol Peak, which is only 15-25 minutes to Aspen or Basalt, this area is chosen by homeowners for its pristine beauty and wide-open spaces.

From 300-acre gentleman ranches to mountain homes, to farms, to equestrian properties, to peaceful cabins adjacent to the Snowmass or Capitol Creeks, there are endless opportunities to hike, bike, or horseback ride on miles of Bureau of Land Management public trails. It’s a joy to ride the Rio Grande bike trail or hike to Capitol Lake. The world-renowned gold medal rivers such as Crystal River, Frying Pan River, and the Roaring Fork River are nearby and ideal for fly fishing.

Sitting atop this beautiful valley is the exclusive enclave of Wildcat Ranch, with just 14 home sites set on 6.800 acres, which overlooks the Snowmass Creek valley and surrounding peaks of Daly, Baldy, Capitol, and Sopris. On the valley floor, there is the Lazy O Ranch, where 22 homeowners share 1,500 acres, an equestrian facility, and stocked trout ponds. Other areas include Shield-O Mesa, Hidden Meadows, and Little Elk Creek.
