West End

Welcome to West End

Tree-lined streets with a victorian heritage, this area embraces its reputation of being steps to town and home to the famous aspen music festival and aspen institute.

Home to the “Painted Ladies,” the colorful reference to 19th-century Victorian homes, Aspen’s West End is favored by those seeking history and location. Reminiscent of Aspen’s silver mining days, West End charms with wide, tree-lined streets, historic houses, and beautiful summer gardens.

Close to the Aspen Music Festival and Aspen Institute, owners only have a few more blocks to amble, either by walking, biking or via the cross-town shuttle, to access the restaurants and nightlife of the Core. With mature trees and babbling irrigation streams, the West End is in full bloom during summers and tucked under shimmering blankets of snow in winters. It’s not uncommon to see horse-drawn sleighs during the winters, while bikes and baby strollers rule in summer. From historical restorations to new contemporary homes, buyers’ first Aspen homes are commonly found in the West End.

Sporting a welcoming village feel, the West End is minutes away from the post office, grocery and hardware stores, and an array of shops and restaurants of the Aspen Core. A short stroll leads to the Harris Concert Hall and the Benedict Music Tent for shows and concerts.

The West End offers beautiful scenery. A 25-acre nature preserve and environmental learning center at Hallam Lake, and the Rio Grande Trail are wonderful places to visit. There are biking and hiking trails everywhere, and parks are located throughout the area.
